Michela Fabeni Art Gallery | Circles of Life – Textured Bas-Reliefs in Gold Leaf | Contemporary Art | Personal Smussato Technique | Palette Knife and Bare Hands

Michela Fabeni's bas-reliefs originate from direct contact with matter, shaped with bare hands through her personal Smussato technique. They are living surfaces where light, shadow, fullness and void build a continuous dialogue between the visible and the unseen.

Within my creative process I also use the palette knife as an incisive and revealing instrument. It is a blade moving through matter, cutting, opening, exposing what lies beneath. After this gesture, the hands intervene: they soothe, rebalance, apply color and gold, reconstruct the surface in an act of care and transformation.

The Circles of Life emerge as primordial forms, archetypal symbols of continuity and transformation. In the presented collage, the circle inhabits space in multiple ways: centerpiece, easel structure, wall installation. Each configuration becomes relationship, environment, experience.

The circle does not confine, it connects. It is origin and return. It is time breathing, movement renewing itself, balance between matter and awareness.

Michela Fabeni's bas-reliefs express a universal tension toward unity, speaking a language that crosses cultures and sensibilities. They are symbolic surfaces inviting contemplation and dialogue between the artwork and the observer.

Through the Circles of Life, matter becomes a shared message: continuity, belonging, transformation. An invitation to recognize in artistic gesture a common trace capable of uniting individual experience and collective vision.
