At Michela Fabeni Art Gallery, I present The 12 Zodiac Signs, a cycle of twelve contemporary bas-relief sculptures on canvas, size 100 x 70 cm, conceived as presences rather than symbols to be decoded.
Each work rises from a deep black background, crossed by a starry sky recalling the cosmic origin of the sign.
At the center, always a female figure: anthropomorphic women, suspended between human, animal and fantastic dimensions, shaped to embody the energy, character and nature of each zodiac sign.
I work the material using bare hands, spatula and organic materials, allowing gesture to carve and reveal. Silver leaf forms the body of the sign, capturing light and returning it as vibration.
Around it, gold leaf reliefs dialogue with the stars, while the zodiac symbol, also in relief, appears above each canvas as an identity seal.
I do not narrate astrology. I reveal essence. Each sign becomes body, instinct, tension and transformation. Each canvas is a meeting point between sky and matter, between what inhabits us and what transcends us.
Twelve figures rise from darkness like embodied constellations, where matter remembers the sky. Each sign is a presence, each relief a trace, each light a return to origin.
