Rota Vitae is a bas-relief that tells the story of the creative process as a profound journey through birth, loss, and renewal. The work emerges without a fixed plan: I let myself be carried by the material, and in the end, it reveals its message.
1. Origin – The Breath Before Life
It begins with a fetus in the womb, fragile and curled within itself, hand to mouth, nourished by the umbilical cord. A symbol of beginning, of potential not yet realized, of the most authentic and hidden part of ourselves.
2. Oblivion – The Veil of Matter
I covered this figure, as we sometimes set ourselves aside. The void left at the center becomes a symbol of loss and transformation: a portal reminding us that to be reborn we must release parts of ourselves. The silence speaks of a voice learning to express new things.
3. The Spiral – Journey Toward the Self
Unconsciously, the spiral takes shape: movement, evolution, return. Life is never linear; we return to the starting point, but each time with new awareness. A dance of birth, death, and rebirth, a cosmic breath expanding and contracting.
4. Revelation – The Light Beneath the Skin
Gold along the spiral represents the light of awareness, the scar that shines after healing. The fetus remains beneath the surface, intact, symbolizing that life and our essence never disappear—they wait to be seen again. Every void, every absence, is a sacred space to welcome rebirth. The golden spiral reminds us that we return to the origin, but never unchanged.
To be reborn means to carry each scar as part of the light. The flow always knows where to take us.
