Corners of the Sky is a bas-relief on canvas in which I push the dialogue between painting and sculpture, matter and light, body and space to its limits. The work of art emerges from my personal technique, merging pictorial gesture with sculptural construction, transforming the surface into a living, pulsating three-dimensional field.
I use organic materials, acrylic, gold leaf, and silver leaf to create a composition with strong tactile presence and iridescent luminosity. These precious materials are not decorative; they carry meaning. They evoke a transcendent, spiritual dimension that contrasts and coexists with the density of matter—an echo of the Baroque world reinterpreted through a contemporary, informal language.
The palette knife marks the surface with interwoven lines, textures, and reliefs that suggest movement, emotional tension, and transformation. The two human figures are not anatomically defined but evoked. Their bodies merge with each other and with the background, becoming a single presence—an image of intimate and universal connection.
The composition is balanced yet intentionally dynamic, built on a constant dialogue between solid and void. Predominantly cool tones are crossed by warm flashes of gold, creating a chromatic equilibrium between emotional distance and inner light. The figures appear immersed in a cosmic, ethereal space: the “angles of sky” become fragments of infinity made tangible through matter.
In this work, I reflect on the theme of union—love, duality, the fusion of masculine and feminine, matter and spirit. The richness of precious materials amplifies the message: the human spirit is valuable, enduring, and immortal. Corners of the Sky is a space of introspection, a threshold where the physical and spiritual worlds meet and recognize one another.
