Celestial Vision is a bas-relief on canvas (100 x 70 cm) through which I explore the deep harmony between nature and spirit, reality and imagination. The work arises from an inner vision, where femininity merges with myth in a symbolic, evocative, and timeless language.
The figure appears as a metamorphic image: a female body intertwining with the form of a horse or a unicorn, creating a presence suspended between human and animal, matter and spirit. This duality is not conflict, but union—a poetic passage that speaks of identity, transformation, and belonging to the natural and cosmic universe.
The palette knife technique, combined with organic materials, builds a living, dynamic three-dimensional surface that captures light and gives depth to the relief. The matter retains a raw, primordial quality, almost ancestral, as if the work had emerged from an ancient time to speak to the present.
In Celestial Vision, gesture and material become a bridge between past and contemporaneity. The textures may recall prehistoric engravings or primordial marks, yet the language remains modern, essential, and refined. The presence of the unicorn—a symbol of purity, transcendence, and imagination—amplifies the spiritual message of the work, intertwining with the strength and sensitivity of the feminine figure.
This artwork invites reflection on the balance between the natural and spiritual worlds, between what is visible and what can only be perceived. The unicorn is not an escape from reality, but a poetic instrument of connection, celebrating diversity and the power of imagination as a path to transcendence.
If placed in the past, Celestial Vision would have resonated with Symbolism or Surrealism, aligning with visions akin to those of Odilon Redon or Max Ernst. Today, it fully belongs within contemporary art, where the dialogue between handcrafted technique, matter, and symbolic content becomes an essential language.
