Guardian Angel is a bas-relief on canvas in which I explore the concept of protection as a silent, inner, invulnerable force. The work emerges from a direct engagement with matter, using organic materials and a palette knife to create three-dimensional textures that generate depth, movement, and breath.
The surface is shaped through energetic yet controlled gestures. The lines are never rigid or geometric, but soft, fluid, and organic. Each relief is the result of a directional movement that records a rapid and conscious time, transforming the canvas into a living body inhabited by light.
The use of monochromy emphasizes the dialogue between light and shadow. Golden and pearlescent highlights emerge from the reliefs, giving the work a sense of sacredness and preciousness—never decorative, but symbolic. Light does not cover the surface; it dwells within it.
The central form may evoke a stylized heart or intertwined wings. It is an open, archetypal image that speaks of embrace, protection, and love. Although the composition maintains an organic fluidity, a subtle symmetry creates balance and visual harmony, reinforcing a sense of calm presence.
The wings can be read as symbols of freedom, transcendence, or invisible guardianship. The heart suggests connection and vital energy. Guardian Angel moves between strength and delicacy, protection and openness, conveying a universal message through an essential visual language.
My approach exists on the threshold between painting and sculpture, embracing an expressive minimalism in which few elements are enough to generate deep emotional resonance.
The work does not impose meaning, but invites listening, leaving space for personal interpretation.
Like all my works of art, Guardian Angel arises from the tension between matter and light, between apparent fragility and inner invulnerability.
Protection makes no sound. The greatest strength is the one that embraces. To be invulnerable is an act of love.
