There are stories that do not belong only to literature alone, but to the deep consciousness of the human being.
In the words of Hermann Hesse, transformation is never a loss, but a passage. Nature becomes a mirror of the soul, and the soul finds in nature its most authentic form.
From this vision arises an artwork by Michela Fabeni: two trunks, two trees, two presences that recognize each other and merge into a necessary embrace.

At first glance, they are trees. Vertical bodies, rooted, shaped by time. Then, slowly, the human emerges: hands surfacing from the wood, faces barely hinted at, gestures that dissolve the boundary between what is vegetal and what is flesh.
This is not an abrupt metamorphosis, but a natural flow. As in Hesse’s writings, the human being does not dominate nature, but returns to it.
The embrace between the two trees is not a narrative gesture; it is an act of existence. It is the place where two identities choose to remain together, even as their form changes.
Matter speaks where words fall silent. Thickness, undulating lines, and incisions tell of time lived, resistance, vulnerability. The surface is never smooth: it is skin, bark, memory.
In this artwork, love is not represented, but embodied. It is a root that sustains, a trunk that supports, a gesture that does not ask to be seen, only to be felt.
As Hesse reminds us, growth means passing through transformation without losing one’s inner truth. Here, the embrace becomes shared destiny, common growth, a silent fidelity to one’s own nature.
If you sense that some bonds are strong enough to cross time and change form, this embrace is already speaking to you. Discover the artwork and my artistic journey on the website. www.michelafabeniart.com
