PRESS RELEASE

Rome, Thursday 5 February 2026 – 4:00 PM

Michela Fabeni Art Gallery, Rome

Within the intimate and contemplative atmosphere of Michela Fabeni’s Roman atelier, critical observation becomes deep listening.

The visit of the international art critic, writer, journalist, and prince Alfio Borghese unfolded as a moment of profound aesthetic and human reflection — an intense critical reading of the works inhabiting the artist’s creative space.

This was not mere observation, but immersion: into matter, gesture, and thought.

Michela Fabeni’s works speak a distinctive and radical language. Powerful, sensual female figures emerge from the surface through sinuous lines, bodies that do not offer themselves to the gaze but challenge it. Matter is engraved and shaped with bare hands, crossed by the palette knife as a tool of truth. Gold leaf is not decorative — it illuminates, reveals, and protects a symbolic dimension connected to love, corporeal sacredness, and identity.

The iridescent colors shift with light and the viewer’s movement, creating living works that never remain still. Woman, central to the artist’s poetics, is not representation but presence: archetype, generative force, tension between fragility and power. Elements such as the palette knife and bare hands become symbols of choice, protection, and unmediated truth.

During the visit, Alfio Borghese conducted an in-depth critical reading of the entire body of exhibited works, recognizing in Michela Fabeni’s research a rare coherence and an autonomous vision within the contemporary art scene.

It is important to note that several critical texts written to date on Michela Fabeni’s works have been authored by Alfio Borghese, reflecting a continuous critical dialogue and a deep, ongoing understanding of her artistic journey.

Michela Fabeni Art Gallery thus confirms itself not only as an exhibition space, but as a place of thought, dialogue, and growth, where art is experienced as a total and conscious encounter.
