EN PLEIN AIR ART – The Breath of Matter, Nature and the Time of Creation | Michela Fabeni's Artistic Creative Process | Contemporary Bas-reliefs

Artistic creation does not always coincide with an immediate gesture. Some processes require time, observation and an ongoing relationship with natural elements.
In Michela Fabeni's artistic research, working en plein air represents an important dimension of the creative process. Matter is shaped outdoors, in dialogue with the air, sunlight and environmental conditions, which accompany its different stages of transformation.

The sun, air and time participate in a process that cannot be entirely planned. Drying, settling and the metamorphosis of the surface require patience and respect for the natural working times of the material.

The artist observes, intervenes and waits. Matter passes through successive stages, changes its appearance and gradually acquires a new configuration.
It is within this dimension that the idea of the breath of matter emerges: a metaphor for its vitality, its continuous evolution and the relationship between human intervention and natural processes.
Working en plein air also becomes a reflection on the time of creation. In a society accustomed to speed and immediacy, the artistic process reclaims the value of waiting, patience and observation.
Each bas-relief thus preserves a story made of gestures, environmental conditions and progressive transformations.

Nature is not merely a backdrop against which the work takes place, but a presence accompanying the creative journey.
Matter breathes, transforms and gradually reveals its own expression. The artist listens to its rhythms and accompanies its metamorphosis.
