Stand Up by Michela Fabeni Art at Artexpo New York 2024 | Bas-relief on canvas at Pier 36

Updated: Jan 27

From April 4 to April 7, 2024, I took part in Artexpo New York, one of the most important international contemporary art fairs, presenting my artwork Stand Up, a bas-relief on canvas measuring 65 × 90 cm, palette knife, organic material, gold leaf.

The exhibition was held at Pier 36 – 299 South Street, New York, NY 10002, USA, a renowned waterfront venue located on Manhattan’s Lower East Side, where global artistic visions converge and contemporary dialogue takes shape.
Stand Up is an artwork born from the need to affirm presence through matter. The surface rises, resists, vibrates. Bas-relief becomes a physical language, a direct gesture, an energy made visible.
It is a silent yet powerful statement: to remain standing, even when matter carries tension, memory, and transformation.
Exhibiting in New York marks a meaningful milestone in my international artistic journey. Bringing Stand Up into this context means sharing an authentic vision—rooted in gesture and open to global resonance.

This work of art does not ask to be understood. It stands. It rises from matter as an inevitable act. It is what remains when the body remembers its truth. Presence. Integrity. No retreat.
