This dancer rises vertically, as an act of ascent.
Her profile emerges powerfully from the canvas, pushing beyond the surface, beyond its limits. One arm reaches upward, while the other touches the side edge, as if seeking an opening, a passage, a way out of matter itself.
The bas-relief is strong and pronounced, surrounded by silver clouds illuminated with touches of gold. Light is not a background but an active presence: it holds, propels, and transforms.
The lifted leg, raised to its highest point and sustained by the tension of the body, captures the precise moment before flight, where balance becomes intention. Hands and feet, shaped through the Smussato technique, take on an almost winged, webbed quality, as if the body were learning a new language of movement, a new way of flying. The absence of a face allows the figure to transcend identity and become universal.
This work speaks of elevation, transformation, and inner freedom.
A dancer who does not perform to be seen, but to cross space, time, and the gaze of the viewer.
