Free Tactile Event for Visulally Impaired and Blind Individuals | Limited-entry Sensory Experience with the Bas-Reliefs of Michela Fabeni in her Artistic Space in Rome

Within the artistic journey of Michela Fabeni, bas-relief is not created only to be observed, but also to be experienced through proximity, presence, and touch. Matter becomes a tactile language, a living surface, an experience to be explored slowly and deeply.

For this reason, an event dedicated to blind and visually impaired individuals has been created as an inclusive and sensory experience in which selected artworks by the artist can be explored through touch. An encounter that transforms the relationship with art into a direct dialogue between the hand, the material, and emotion.

Michela Fabeni’s contemporary bas-reliefs, developed through the original Smussato technique, are distinguished by depth, engravings, reliefs, and material variations that allow a physical perception of the artwork. The surfaces do not merely reflect light, but create tactile pathways composed of solids and voids, tension and harmony, thickness and silence.

The event was conceived with the intention of moving beyond the traditional concept of observation, opening contemporary art to a more accessible and human dimension. Touching an artwork means entering its most intimate structure, understanding its rhythm, and following its forms through an authentic and personal experience.

In a time dominated by the speed of images, this initiative invites people to slow down and listen to matter through a different sensitivity, restoring importance to gesture, perception, and the profound connection between the artwork and the individual.
