Artista e cavalletto

Hello Michela Fabeni
Tell us about your Art

I am Michela Fabeni, born in Rome in 1975. I call myself a Third Millennium Artist because, while inspired by classical art, I have created a personal contemporary style in which my dynamic and explosive energy flows freely, reflecting my exuberance. My somewhat extravagant character is also reflected in the accessories I wear during exhibitions: hat and glasses that recall astral flights, symbols of an inner world in constant motion.

Since I was a child, imagination and creativity have been essential parts of my life, moving within me something magical and indefinable that seduces my soul, opening the door to the beauty of Creation.

Today, in addition to writing, I dedicate myself with passion to the art of sculpture, especially to bas-reliefs on canvas. The canvas, in fact, was a fallback: I love to paint on large spaces without limits, but having no more available walls, I had to adapt.

I have a strong motivation to want to understand the world, myself, my existence, my destiny, unconsciously making an inner journey.

Creating, for me, is an escape from reality, a crossing of the invisible that allows me to express without veils my feelings, emotions and moods. Through my works, I represent the female figure, exalting its inner strength, and even when there are more subjects, they are always fragments of my soul.

I explore themes such as Universal Love, Infinity and the Universe, often drawing inspiration from mythology. My works, albeit in an abstract, surreal and sometimes symbolic way, celebrate the sensuality and sinuosity of forms, through the joy and awareness of a cosmic union.

Below, I share my reflections on art: a journey between breath, matter, instinct and spirituality.

Michela Fabeni turns every creative gesture into a story of visceral emotions. Artist of the Third Millennium, plasma bas-reliefs on canvas with a personal technique called "smussato" which consists in the bevel of roughness, made first with a spatula and then with bare hands, which must touch, immerse, merge with the matter to give it a living soul, vibrant. Its organic materials and vital essences capable of transmitting primordial force and emotional pulsation, emerge as creatures that seem to want to free themselves from the surface, challenging the boundaries of space and time.

Her artworks are a dialogue between light and shadow, full and empty, visible and invisible, a suspended balance that captures the deep essence of the universe. It is not the artist’s will to guide the form, but the universe itself that manifests itself, offering surprising and always new expressions, like a breath of creative energy that becomes tangible.

Through anthropomorphic figures and symbols, Michela explores femininity, metamorphosis and the infinite, fusing tradition and innovation into a timeless language. His works are compositions that sometimes develop in diptychs and tryptics to evoke the vastness of being and becoming. In less than two years he has produced almost 300 works and his production, fuelled by a tireless creative force, continues to grow at a constant pace and natural evolution, participating in international exhibitions and awards in cities such as Rome, Milan, Barcelona, Venice, New York, Dubai, Beijing and Monaco.

Her artistic path is an inner journey in continuous transformation, an invitation to immerse yourself in the starry sky that lives inside us and to be enveloped by the embrace of mystery and energy that permeate the world around, where matter, light and symbol dialogue with the soul of the observer.

Art as Breath and Journey
Art for me is breath and travel, a deep need. It is the most authentic form in which I give life to the invisible, transforming muted emotions into forms that can be touched. It is the embrace between the starry sky that I keep inside and what surrounds me every day.

The Body as a Sacred Instrument
My body is a living part of the creative process: hands are not simple tools, but real channels of emotion and energy. After the spatula, I choose to work with bare hands because I want to feel the matter, touch it, immerse myself in it. It is through the skin that I feel the vibration, the transformation, the hidden voice of matter itself.

The Instinct that Guides the Form
Instinct is very important. I often start without a precise project, as if the work itself were asking me to take shape. The gesture has an ancient, almost primordial ritual that guides my hands in a silent dialogue with what I create. Only afterwards, calmly, do I recognize the meaning and significance of that creative act. It is an act of trust, of deep listening to something that comes from within.

Works that live by themselves
It is as if the work had a life of its own, which guides my hands and manifests itself without me controlling it. I feel that it comes from an energy greater than me, as if it already exists elsewhere and I release it. Each time is a new surprise. Following this flow, I let it take shape, and only then give it a name and meaning, with my mind.

Smussato ( Blunt ): A Technique in Transformation
The technique I never chose rationally: it was born spontaneously from my way of expressing what I feel inside.

The hands move on their own, following an instinctive flow. For example, in the maze I created while I was lying in bed for a fracture, the lines are sharper and sharper, reflecting what I was experiencing at that time. The technique, then, is never fixed but always in transformation, a real metamorphosis that follows my inner path.

Femininity as a Primordial Force
I often explore female symbols and figures because for me femininity is a deep, resilient and regenerating force. It is the energy that welcomes, transforms and renews. The sinuous forms that I shape express this force, which does not belong only to the biological female, but lives in each of us as a balance between masculine and feminine interior. My personal experience as a woman and artist feeds this feeling: modeling is for me an inner journey in which creatures emerge that reflect what every woman can reflect herself in: grace, strength, complexity and rebirth.

The birth of an artwork
When a work is born, I feel an inner need, a deep impulse that guides me with force. It is as if the work itself calls me, asking to emerge, to take shape in the world. When I complete it, I often feel an intense déjà vu, the feeling that the work has always existed and I have only rediscovered it. It is a mysterious and deep bond between me and what I create, a timeless dialogue.

Art as a bridge between cultures
Each culture has its own sensibility, a unique way of feeling and interpreting my works. There are those who let themselves be captured by emotions, those who dwell on symbols, those who appreciate the technique. This comparison deeply enriches my gaze, opening new perspectives and meanings that sometimes I did not even imagine. Art thus becomes a living bridge between different worlds.

Balance and Conflict, Art is Breath
Art is a pulsating balance: it gives harmony but also knows how to unleash conflict, shaking the soul to bring out hidden truths. It is the living breath between light and shadow, full and empty, a deep reflection of life itself.

Living Matter and Impermanence
My works are in continuous transformation, a metamorphosis that I live also in daily gestures, in my intimate. In everyday life I often let myself be guided by ephemeral materials, which I use to feel the mystery and cosmic union that surrounds us. These materials help me to perceive the incessant flow and transformation of life, making alive that deep connection between creation and impermanence.

The artwork is a Bond, not a Separation
It is never a total separation. To observe a finished work is a moment of encounter, of deep relationship. We are bound by a thin thread that crosses time and space.

Public Art: A World Embrace
I would like my works to live in a place where time seems to stand still, a space suspended in silence. A place that welcomes those who look at them, making them feel part of something bigger, never alone. I want those who observe to be really excited, bringing with them a gentle and deep memory in the heart.

Art in Motion
I think that a work in motion can give new life and dimension to art. Music, dance and performance are a natural extension of my work, a way to bring emotions and forms into dialogue in a lively way.

Three colors to describe me
I would describe myself with white, for the calm and purity with which I observe the world. Red tells about my passion and the vital energy that flows through me, as a creative sap that pulsates every day. Gold is my essence: something precious, that illuminates from within, welcomes, regenerates and transforms.

I regard the representations of my creatures as fragments of my soul. The works are material, made with materials from the four natural elements of our Universe: water, air, earth and fire. Each element carries with it a deep symbolism: water as source of life, air as breath of the world, earth as place of roots and fire as energy that heats and purifies.

I love to express myself on paintings without borders, pursuing the idea of continuity and Infinity, both in time and space. This vision is reflected in my diptychs or triptychs. I take back the sculptural artistic techniques of the great masters of the past and adapt them to the Third Millennium. My personal technique, which I called "lo smussato", consists in shaping the material with a spatula and finishing it with bare hands, creating soft and sinuous shapes, made with soft dough that take shape thanks to fluid and spontaneous movements.

My works, are recognizable for style and intensity and also appreciated internationally.
The creative process is long and meticulous: it includes repairing cracks and strengthening the structure, coloring and applying metal leaves ( when present ) and a protective treatment that guarantees their durability.

The bold brushstrokes and energetic movements of palms and fingertips, full of intense and vibrant colors, give warmth and illuminate the works. Thickness and light become language, revealing my essence. I believe that today, more than ever, the distractions of today’s world take us away from the essence of who we are. Yet, if we let go and open the door of our heart, as when we look at the sky at nightfall, we can come back to perceive the small, great miracles of life. The truth is that we carry within us the starry sky.

I wish you all to fully enjoy this joy and to appreciate the mystery and magic that envelop our Universe.
